English article about the 3e school outing to a wind farm

Escrito por el 21 febrero 2015 en English, English -3ème - | 0 comentarios

Los alumnos de 3º de la ESO hicieron una salida y visitaron una turbina, ¡una buena razón para escribir un artículo en inglés!

Yesterday, the 9th of February,we had a school outing,so we visited a wind farm which is situated in Arinaga. Mr. Blandin (the physic’s and chemistry teacher) and Mr. Mauguy (the history and geography teacher) came with us.

There we met two guides: Manolo, the delegate of the Endesa company (more specifically the Enel’s Green Power Spain company) and also the subdelegate called Javier.

Javier cracked jokes,he has a good sense of humor!

When we arrived, the first thing they did was giving us a helmet and a jacket,it was for our own safety.

Thanks to them we learnt a lot of things about turbines. For example, they told us that those turbines could produce energy for around 2,800 houses.

We felt surprised and it was  awesome when we get in a turbine. They explained  to us what each button was used for and also the safety rules.

It was a nice experience, it was worthwhile.

Dublin_AH_1My diary, by Andrea H.

I’ve just come from the best trip ever. All the class with Mme.Eyraud and Mr.Blandin went to Dublin! It was so exciting and nice. We took the plane at 7pm and after four long hours we arrived to Ireland at 12pm.

Andrea and me stayed at Pauline Cottuli’s home. She was the one who was looking after us. All the houses were in Portmarnock, close to the centre of Dublin. She used to wake up us at 7am because we could not take the breakfast after 7:30am and the meeting point was at 8am.

The house was very nice and cosy. They had a little child called Brian who was six.

The first day we went to the Natural History Museum, it was so interesting. Then, we went to the St Stephen Green Park to take the lunch. Later we visited the Trinity College and the Book of Kells and finally we finished the day with a bit of rain in a beautiful place called Howth.

The second day we went to the gallery of art: Hugh Lane. There were a lot of paintings by different artists. Then, we moved on to Herny Street and we went shopping. I bought a lot of things in shops that it is difficult to find in Gran Canaria.

We walked a lot and we took very nice pictures even if it was very cold.

Then, we visited the Chester Beaty Library during the “showers” and finally we went to the beach of Portmarnock.

At home, we generally had dinner at 7pm and we often went to Carlos Vega and Pablo’s house because their host mother was family with us.

The third day in Ireland we did a hike in the village called Howth, it was very beautiful and views was awesome.

We finished the day going to Grafton Street to go shopping another time! We did very good shops and we could change the atmosphere from Henry Street.

Monday, we went to Phoenix Park, Temple Bar and to St. Stephen Green Shopping Centre, we enjoyed a lot all the visit, specially I prefered  the park because it was impressing.

At midday we went to the Lycée Français d’Irlande. I was very exiting because we didn’t know them, but they were very friendly and cool. I wrote some address and emails of students from there and we are still in touch.

Bon appétit !

Tuesday morning we said good-bye to our family because it was the last day. I will miss them so much. We didn’t do a lot of things, we only went to a shopping centre near the airport and we arrived to Gran Canaria at 6pm.

I really enjoyed this trip, I would like to go another time if it will be possible!

Dublin: Diary from the 20th to the 25th March, by Carlos M.R.

20th March, Thursday

We were on the plane for about 4 hours and finished very tired! We arrived to Portmarnock at 1 a.m. and the father drove us to the house, where everybody was sleeping. We put our pyjamas and then immediately went to bed.

21st March, Friday

We woke up at 7 o’clock and had breakfast with the family. We met their 4 children and talked with them.

In Dublin, we went to the Natural History Museum, where we had great fun, and then went to the Trinity College and saw the Book Of Kells, which seemed very interesting to me.

At the end of the day, we had a pizza for dinner and watched The Simpsons in English with the kids.

22nd March, Saturday

On Saturday, we went to the Hugh Lane Gallery, where we could see a lot of paintings. I loved some of them, but I found some others terribly awful. In that place, we also saw the studio of a very famous Irish painter, James Bacon. I really loved that. Then, we went shopping to a street.

23rd March, Sunday

We went hiking to the Howth Coastal Path. It was a great experience and the landscape was beautiful. We stopped for a while for having lunch in a beautiful beach. Then, we had some free time for shopping again.

24th March, Monday

On Monday, we went to the Phoenix Park and we learned that the Pope visited it and a million people came there. Then, we went to the Irish French School, where we met our pen pals, who were really friendly. We also played some sports with them like handball, basketball and volleyball. Then we had shopping time again.

25th March, Tuesday

The last day, we said goodbye to our host family and left them before leaving. In our way to the airport, we visited Malahide, and then went to another shopping centre. Finally, we arrived to the airport and came back to the Canary Islands.

I was sad to leave that beautiful country, but I was also happy to come back home.
